The Zitzmanns! We are missionaries with Ignite South Africa serving as Hope Manager and Outreach Director.
The area we are serving (Qwa Qwa) has been called the poorest area of South Africa because of high unemployment and high rates of chronic hunger. In addition, 1 in every 4 children are orphaned in this area. Ignite has seen how orphaned and at-risk girls are vulnerable to sexual exploitation, abuse, and trafficking.
To respond to these circumstances, Ignite developed their Hope programs. They created a pregnancy helpline, a maternity home (providing shelter, job skills training, mentoring, and support), a mobile pregnancy clinic, pregnancy and parenting classes, and they trained Life Leaders to share about God’s plan for life.
Using our own story and education, we are working to strengthen and expand these programs through our role as Hope Managers.
Local churches and communities are strengthened when Bible teachers and mission teams come to serve alongside them. Among the Basotho, 90% of pastors have no formal training. The ability for pastors to attend intensive courses led by visiting Bible teachers is one of the ways Ignite is helping meet the needs of local leaders.
We help provide transportation, hospitality, and communication with mission teams and visiting individuals. Having been on trips ourselves, we are excited to help others lead successful ministry trips to South Africa where they can use their gifts as they are immersed in the culture and help expand the work of our local team!
We are looking for ongoing monthly support. This type of support will help keep us on the field long-term and enable us to equip the local team in our areas of strength while also providing a bridge for mission teams. You can sign-up for recurring giving on our Modern Day site below.
